From One World to Another.

So, I roleplay, we all should have figured this out by now. And there is a game that has been ongoing for years, and really it is the combination now of many many games and many many people. I myself have had so many characters there its crazy.. so what is another one? Since there is a connection.

So, there was a game that ended, but the bad guy from that game moved to the big overall game that I just mentioned and is currently one of the main bad guys in the world. First I need to tell you this game is based sort of off the DragonAge Video Game. A lot of different stuff happened but a lot of the characters still existed like Alistair and Duncan and Morrigan.. just the outcome was a bit different, And what happened with all the characters was a bit different.. and well there wasn’t just one main character, there was all of us….. Secondly, the story was, well, we built ourselves as characters, and our starting gear was whatever we had at the Minnesota Renaissance Festival.. and some magical Stuff went down. And wala there we were in the world of Dragon Age…. (the big main long lasting now a lot of epically type game is set in the DND world of Forgotten Realms)

So, My story had ended or so everyone thought based on a discussion we all had, until I wrote this and gave it to the “main” gm. Who thought it was awesome and cannot wait until I bring my “new” character into the story. Because well, the big bad guy I mentioned, cannot be killed, cause well, he is an intelligent Arch Demon Spellcaster.. Like I said a bit different from the game, we threw our own stuff in there I guess.. lol Anyhow, I decided to take a break from writing my book and do a little short story that tells a different story of what happened to my character after that game was done being played…. Enjoy.
p.s. (some stuff isn’t explained because I originally wrote this for the people who played in the game, so if you have questions feel free to ask and I will gladly explain)

He had everything he was looking for in life. A wife, a daughter, a great place to live, plenty of money and reputation. There was no blight to worry about. Of course there was the loss of his friends, and a little curse from drinking some foul concoction that made him a specialty for hunting darkspawn.

It was late at night when the warden commander was leaving town and headed to his home when a voice sang out to him mockingly. With a thought his eyes lit up white and turned to see who was calling his name. His sight gave him knowledge that what stood before him either had or once had darkspawn blood in his veins. As the Commanders eyes dimmed and he drew his sword he felt himself unable to move. You know I came here for a purpose. I wanted you to know I am leaving these lands. You can have it, you can have your little darkspawn fights, you can have your little place in this world. I choose to go somewhere that there aren’t grey wardens to hunt me down one day. I am no idiot. Every day that passes some grey warden gets stronger, and eventually one of you will come and defeat me. My plans do not include defeat.”

“However, before I left I wanted to leave on last little impact on you. You see, I told your dear mother in law where you live, better yet, I unbound her from the swamp she has been cursed to live for hundreds of years. In fact Nick, she is at your home right now, with your daughter and wife. She is powerful, and soon to be even more powerful. It is her nature you see, she cannot help wanting to live. However I thought it would be a fun last moment in this world before I left.”

“I’ll kill you, I will kill you and stop whatever you care about. If anything happens to her…”

“You’ll what? Struggle? Its funny I thought I’d have to cast that spell on you three or four times before you couldn’t use your special magic anymore to take the spell for yourself. I guess Fate would call me lucky. Goodbye Nick of the Grey Wardens. I hope you have nothing left in your life to enjoy.” Then he stepped back into the darkness and a cracking sound was heard, then the sound of flapping leather wings got more and more distant as Nicks face contorted and twisted until the spell that took hold of him released him. Instantly he reached into his bag and pulled out his crystal ball and looked into it to see his wife standing before his mother in law, Quickly he pulled out a wand with only 3 charges left and used it. In a flash and a loud pop he disappeared in time and space.

…….

When he arrived just inside the house he drew his sword and ran to the door leaping out his saw his daughter dead on the ground and his mother in law dead before him. His wife Morrigan stood over both, emotionless. Nick stood by her side and looked down unsure what to say. She turned and stood up and looked at him and smiled. It took only a minute for Nick to realize it wasn’t his wife. “Wh.. what have you done!?” He screamed at her.”

“We had a deal, and you broke that deal. You were to bring her to me, and I would not harm her.” Look what has happened because of your own doing. Now all is last for you, I warned you didn’t I? I told you what would happen. I knew she had a daughter just as she knew. Its part of it you see. You need the granddaughter to take the daughter, it’s the component of the ritual.”

Nick Stepped back, he doubted he could take on Flemeth, with a renewed youth. He glanced around the area for some hope that this was all a falsehood. His home was a disaster, from what he understood of magic it was like the Templars battled an army of mages here. Then he looked up at her. “No, you broke your promise first. You promised me that when the Blight was over, you would send me home.” Nick stepped closer to show no sign of the fear he truly had deep inside.

Flemeth in his wife’s body chuckled, “So I did. You are a curious creature. From your strange land. You are the only one left here. The rest have all returned, well except for one, The red haired half darkspawn still lives somewhere. Now that you have nothing you wish to return home.” Amused she shakes her head and walks to the house then turns back ad looks at Nick.

Nick looked at the ground to see his dog quietly has taken his side with a small piece of parchment stuck in his collar, he then looked back up at her. “No, instead I want to go wherever that Darkspawn lord, who looks like my friend Bryan went. Surly if you have any power in you , you can achieve a task as simple as that. It is the least you can do for me after taking everything I have, after tricking me through my whole time here knowing the outcome.” Nick gritted his teeth hoping she would bite at the challenge instead of her normal response. Nick realized she was arrogant, and hoped to use it to his advantage.

“I can do it, and I know where he is planning to go, it isn’t where he is, but it is where he intends to stay. Is that good enough for you?”

“Yes.”

“Give me a moment to put it all together in my mindseye.”

“Take your time. I will be inside gathering my things, and putting the armor on my dog.” Nick walks inside the house as Flemeth prepares. It doesn’t take long before he comes out and she is standing there looking at him. “Is your spell, in your minds eye?” Nick asked sarcastically.

“Yes, but I would choose a different tone if you want me to cast it properly.”

“I apologize, and before I go, may I at least have Morrigan's wedding ring I gave to her?” Nicks lip trembled a bit at the sadness that suddenly overcame him. For a moment it seemed Flemeth recognized his pain. Nick recalls stories of a lover Flemeth once had that was taken from her as well.

“Very well.” She slid it off her hand and reached out to hand it to Nick. “Take it and let us end this.”

Nick stepped up to take the ring. “Indeed, let’s end this.” Before the blink of an eye had occurred Nick had pulled a shortsword from a boot and buried it in the chest of Flemeth draining the only few spells she had remaining in her as it sparked with its own magic. The battle with Morrigan obviously took its toll on Flemeth’s nearly limitless power. The message Morrigan left in his dog’s collar confirmed that Morrigan knew it was the only way, and took steps to make sure Nick would succeed. Nick stood over the corpse of Flemeth and realized the spell she once had in her minds eye.

Nick looked at his dog Alistair, “don’t worry boy Morrigan will always be with us now.” Nick slid the wedding band on his finger and kissed it. “Even if she is trapped in here forever at least she is with us. ANd she will be there to watch us kill the one truly responsible for all of this. Songweaver will pay. Lets go boy.” Nick reached down and cut a lock of hair from his wife’s body and put it into his bag and brought Flemeth’s spell into memory and casted it.

…….

The shore waves crashed hard on the docks as a loud rush of water escaped an area and a loud hum came from the open vortex that was created on the other side. The Dog paddled hard to reach the shore as did Nick. Nick took a few steps to the Beach and looked over to the Dock where a few fishermen stood. Casting and Talking. Luckily Nick understood the language. But it was strange that what had happened just now didn’t phase the fishermen.

“Gentlemen, I know this is a strange question, but where am I?” Nick called out.

“One of the fishermen chuckled, Not a strange question at all, mages mess up their spells and end up in the water all the time not knowing where they are.”

“Oh, all right, so where am I?”

“Waterdeep.”

Nick paused for a second then looked over his shoulder at the vast sprawling city. Quietly he spoke to himself his response. “You gotta be shitting me.
